Stardust
Pencil on Paper
I was in two minds as to what to draw today. Part of me wanted to move on to a new picture but the truth is I actually had a hard time sleeping last night because I was so annoyed with yesterdays daily sketch… well, I was annoyed by yesterdays daily sketch and there was a lovely chap standing under my bedroom window talking loudly and revving his car until 1am. Oh for the good old days when it was acceptable to throw dirty dish water (among other things) out the window.
So today I chose to try again. I’m much happier with the results. I “zoomed” out and tried smudging for the first time since I was in school. I’ve never felt that confident smudging but it seems to work well for this picture and I am absolutely happy with the Evane figure which I don’t say about anything very often. I do however feel quite miffed with the Tristan character who I’m convinced is consciously refusing to stop looking demented! More boy practice required I think.
I really do like both of these drawings and I have spent ages looking back and forth. They both have qualities and good points. I think you are too critical on yourself. I had a similar experience to you last saturday and wrote a blog about it, the noise I mean. Going to follow this lovely blog
ReplyDeleteHi Ralph, thank you for your lovely comment and for becoming a follower. You’re not the first to tell me I’m too critical of myself, my friend Jennie gets quite exasperated with me at times. I do however try to take the positive from my self criticism and hopefully turn it to something productive.
ReplyDeleteI took a wander over to your blog which I loved and will definitely be following. Some of your comments really made me giggle and the colours in your Lotus Rive painting are absolutely stunning. What was the name of the Buddhist chant you were listening to while painting?
This is really great work! I'm going to check out the rest of your blog now, thanks for following me :)

Thank you for your comment Dawn and thank you for following me :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t resist following your blog. Your beautiful trees are for want of a better term “eye candy”.
Thanks! I love to hear fresh feedback :) LOL, eye candy is the best compliment I have gotten!
